Why should I register for this retreat by Flor Blake?

After a decade working as a photographer, Flor wanted to create a retreat to help photographers think outside the box to make remarkable images. This retreat is designed to encompass everything Flor wanted to have in a retreat, bonding among like-minded individuals, a stress-free creative environment, and dedicated time to photograph and get feedback. She wants to give you the opportunity to not only add beautiful images to your portfolio but to do it in an intimate environment where you can learn from her and from the other participants... plus the beach, she loves the beach! Flor lived in Puerto Rico for 11 years and she still visits the island regularly as her family and friends still live there. So, great news, you will experience Puerto Rico with a local!

Who is Flor Blake?

Flor Blake is a photographer based in Denver, CO. Her clients include Shane Company, Kroger, New York Women in Film & Television, The Women’s Foundation, the University of Colorado, among others. She has created portraits of Michelle Obama, Misty Copeland, Ellen Burstyn, Gloria Steinem, and many more beautiful faces. Flor specializes in portrait, editorial, and commercial and personal branding.

When is the retreat?

The dates of the retreat are May 6-8, 2020. You will arrive on May 5 and leave May 8. All nights are included in the price.

Where will I stay?

We will stay in a guest house located in Ocean Park, Puerto Rico. The house offers individual rooms with queen beds for 5 participants and shared rooms with twin beds for 4 participants. We can share pictures and more information about accommodations just contact us!

Where will instruction happen?

The instruction and discussions will happen at the house and shooting sessions will happen at other locations like the beach and rainforest.

What is the price of the retreat?

The price of the Workshop is:

Early Bird (until September 30th, 2019):

$1400 in double twin bed room, shared with another attendee

$1650 in a individual room with queen bed.

Regular price (after September 30th, 2019):

$1650 in double twin bed room, shared with another attendee

$1950 in a individual room with queen bed.

What does the price include?

Your registration includes:

• 4 nights accommodation

• Roundtrip airport transportation

• Transportation for all workshop activities

• Welcome Happy Hour and Hors D'oeuvres, Breakfasts, and Two Lunches. (Dinners are not included).

• All the workshops

• Location Shootings

Are flights included?

No, flights are not included and are the sole responsibility of the attendee. Please do not book your flight until the workshop is confirmed.

Are drinks included?

Alcoholic beverages as well as soft drinks will be included during the Welcome Happy Hour on May 5th. Soft drinks and water will be available for the duration of the retreat.

Is it refundable?

Because of the limited number of participants and of the "almost all-inclusive" nature of the retreat, registration is not refundable. In case of emergencies you can possibly transfer your registration to a fellow professional photographer if you are not able to come.

What is the cancellation policy?

We need a minimum of 8 people to join the retreat, otherwise it will be cancelled and the money will be refunded directly to the people who already registered.

There is plenty of time. Why should I register early?

Not only early registrations have a $250 and $300 discount respectively, but they help the event being confirmed, as we need a minimum number of eight people in order for it to be possible.

Can I bring my partner that will not attend the workshop?

Unfortunately we have arranged transportation and accommodations to fit 9 participants. We cannot accept guests.

How's the weather?

Puerto Rico is in the Caribbean so they enjoy tropical weather year around. Expect temperatures in the 80's and 90's every day with the occasional rain. We are crossing our fingers to have good weather during the retreat, however we cannot guarantee it.

What should I bring?

Since this workshop is based on practice, you should bring your photography equipment and possibly your laptop.

We also suggest not to forget:

It is tropical HUMID weather bring clothing appropriate to 90's degree weather: shorts, t-shirts, comfortable shoes, flip flops for the beach and beachwear and swimming gear, sunglasses, hats, and an umbrella in case of rain.

WIFI access is available at the guest house.
